The next thread of the RHS is here!!!!

"We are brave, Your Highness."
- Padmé SW: TPM

Due to the popularity of the Royal Handmaidens of Naboo from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, I've seen it most fitting to open up a new RHS thread for the Jedi Council Forums.

As Founder of the first RHS thread here, I'd like to welcome you to this new thread, to kick off the new millennium with. Yippee!!!

And to make this thread official:

Welcome to the year 2000, my fellow RHS members. (Information based in the RHS Website, see link below)

Arsinoe, Charles T, CresentJedi, Darth Happy, Darth Hello Kitty, Erin a.k.a. "Jedi", Fode/Beed20205, GentleBant, Giantano, Go-Mer-Tonic, Hernalt, Jedi Galadriel, jeditictac, KittySuze, KRJ, Lieutenant Piett, Lord Chewy, Lt. Page, Magpie Jen, marcel_proust, Queen Sabé, Qui-Gon's Padawan, Rebel Operative, Red One, Réka, Sabé, Saché of Naboo, Senator Palpatine, Sergej Eisenstein, Shimmergloom, tc_master_rank, Yané of Naboo, Yoséiko, and Yoshi the Green Jedi.

"I will not condone a course of action that will lead us to war."
- Queen Amidala SW: TPM

If anyone has a disagreement with starting this new thread, please forgive me. If you want to still post in the Royal Handmaiden Society: Version 5.0 by Saché of Naboo, you may of course do so. It's just that this thread has reached a point where it's getting harder to load the recent posts. But nevertheless, that was the most popular RHS thread by far. Thanks to everyone at the JC who has helped made the RHS a popular phenomenon in 1999.

"You still have much to learn, my young apprantice."
- Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn SW: TPM

All your responses on speculations in Episodes Two and Three, all those pics, quotes, jokes, etc....we've had a very productive last year.

To visit the RHS Website (by Qui-Gon's Padawan), please follow this link:

"Now, Viceory, we will discuss a new treaty."
- Queen Amidala (Padmé) SW: TPM

Continue the RHS tradition, my friends.

"May the Force be with you this millennium."

The RHS Website, created by Qui-Gon's Padawan, features various fan polls, a chat room, discussion forum, an art gallery, online greeting cards, downloads, and more. The link is above.

And now, the RHS oath, for anyone who is interested in this outstanding club:

I, <name>, pledge my full support to ensure that the RHS threads will continue in a fun but clean manner, in order to ensure our respect to the handmaidens whom we admire and adore.

As an official member of this thread, I will give my 100% support in order to make sure that the RHS continues in a fashion that is acceptable to everyone involved.

The Star Wars: Royal Handmaiden Society lives on....

Hellos. I liked the pictography from the last thread on Kiera Knightley's latest movie. She certainly does favor natalie Portman is Several lines of her face. It's quite amazing and fascinating. And yet some other shots of Kiera from her previous movies give her an angular, austere beauty. So hopefully she'll break from tv movies at some point.

That Kristina da Silva tribute was nice, also!

GB reporting in!

And, since Piett hasn't apparently gotten here yet, I will bring up the following pic:

I will leave the posting of the RHS banner to him, however.

BTW, I had been wondering what name this version of the thread would take. (Somewhere in the background I hear cheers from Red One and perhaps an annoyed utterance from Saché of Naboo.)

Greetings to the newest hall! And long may it prosper and pay homage to the much-admired HMs!

Woohoo!!! Hail the RHS 2000!

And, QG'sP, do you know why the pic I tried to post (referring back to our gallery at the RHS site) doesn't work?

BTW this is the first time that I have been online in over a week! amazingly I haven't missed it too much, except for the RHS of course
Since it seems that a new thread is in the works I decided that I had to get one last post in.
Hope everyone had a good New Years. I must say that the fireworks on the Eiffel Tower were unbelievable! No, sadly I was not in Paris. I had to watch it on TV
Once I catch up with the posts I might have something relevant to say...maybe.

I still find it amazing that we went from Hernault's "Does anyone find it difficult not to think about Saché" thread and the which handmaiden name is your favorite poll to a thread that made our intended 1000 posts to this. Wow. The RHS is definitely a society to be reckoned with.

Giantano waves to all the lurkers our there who either think we're insane or interesting. Jump right in. We're a friendly bunch. Greetings also go to Hernault who we don't see as much as we want to.

Since the first page of this new thread will probably be reviews, welcomes, and such, I thought I would post two thing. The first is Scott Chernoff's address over at the Star Wars Insider. If you haven't emailed him asking to for handmaiden interviews, please do. The address is SWuniverse@aol.com

I thought I would also post our definitive handmaiden picture from the Visual Dictionary for those new to our cause. The VD switched a lot of the names, so here is the RHS corrected image:

QGP: I love the handmaiden polls on the site, and am glad you posted the links here. Just curious, are you ever going to declare winners for past polls, or are we going to let everyone continue voting? It would be nice to have closure, but I like the idea of new members having the chance to voice their opinion. Either choice presents great interest...to us all.

I think that'll do for now. I still can't see our final posts in the 5.0 thread, but I'm sure they'll show up eventually. Here's looking forward to a great year for the RHS. We've got a few months until the video release when our work will begin in earnest. I'm sure will have many things to keep us busy until then.

MTFBWY,
Andé...the friendly handmaiden

(In which Lt. Piett encounters the hazards of typing an Enormously Long Post)...

Well, I guess I am forced to forfeit my title as Chief Convenor.

The banner should go in the opening post. Rebel Op, could you make such an edit.

Anywé -- presenting:

*********************The RHS FAQ**********************

  • Who are you? What's your operating number?
The Royal Handmaiden Society. We don't have an operating number. Everything's under control here; situation normal.

  • Well, what are you all about?
The topic of this thread is the discussion, reconnaissance, conjecture, appreciation, advocacy, and often, adoration of any or all of five particular human characters from The Phantom Menace, collectively known as the Royal Handmaidens. They are the five young women who are the loyal confidants to, bodyguards for, and personal assistants of Queen Amidala. We've also wasted(?) tons of bandwith making puns/jokes on their "name" idiosynchrasies. (Which HM (Handmaiden) was soaked in brandy and set afire? Flambé)

We are an open-door, non-political assembly and welcome all stripe of JC.N member, Padawan to Master, "Gusher" to "Basher". We're also slightly zealous in our ardent fandom of the "Royal Five" as they are sometimes referred-to, though some would argue the "slightly" qualifier!

This thread is actually the seventh incarnation of the RHS, which was born in the course of Rebel Operative's thread "FAN POLL: Which handmadien name from Episode One do you like the best?". A simple poll turned into a serious Inquest, the kind of which only a pride of SW fanatics could generate!

For links to the other previous and related threads, see Qui-Gon's Padawan's post above.

  • What are the Royal Handmaiden characters' names, and the names of the actresses portraying them?

Sabé, a.k.a. the Decoy Queen, portrayed by British actress Keira Knightley; Rabé, portrayed by Brazilian/London-based model Karol Cristina da Silva; Eirtaé, portrayed by actress Friday (Liz) Wilson (nationality unknown); Yané, portrayed by Storm Modelling Agency client Candice Orwell; and Saché, portrayed by actress/up-and-coming director/daughter of GL's good bud Francis Ford, Sofía Coppola.

  • Well, who's "Padmé", then?

Padmé is the undercover identity of Queen Amidala herself, assumed when there is possibility of her mortal danger. Such is the case, of course, in TPM. Padmé is designed to appear a Royal Handmaiden. This was a scheme designed by Captain Panaka, the head of Security in Theed.

In TPM, obscure, underexposed American actress and die-hard SW mega-fan Natalie Portman ( ) portrays Padmé/Amidala.

When Amidala assumes the identity of Padmé, Sabé similarly assumes the role of the Queen. When speaking as the Queen, Sabé often will "consult" the real deal -- "Padmé" -- in indirect or subtle ways, so that important decisions are still actually made by the Sovereign herself.

Below, Sabé (L) consults Padmé (Amidala)(R) on the decision to leave Naboo. (In the middle is Rabé (Karol Cristina da Silva)):

Such dual identity and deception is a major theme running throughout TPM. By no small coincidence, Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman look a lot alike:

  • Didn't Natalie Portman play both the "Decoy" and Padmé simultaneously, via special effect?

NO. (We're a bit sensitive about this, you can tell!) When you see Natalie onscreen as Padmé, the Queen is portrayed by Keira Knightley.

Are you sure? I read that Rick McCallum said...

Rick McCallum didn't get the memo or slept through the meeting or sniffed too much glue in the ILM Creature Shop or something. To be fair: no, we're not 100% sure. To date, there has been no Absolute, published Definitive Word on the issue. An appeal has been made to Scott Chernoff of the "In the SW Universe" article in the SW Insider Magazine to speak to the issue. Time will tell!

But we are 99.9% sure of our conclusions! One developed skill you get as a consequence of being a "Handmaidenologist" is the study of physiognomy, the subtleties of facial features. As you can see from the comparison pic above, Ms. Knightley's eyebrows are straighter and thicker than Portman's, her lips fuller, and her dark brown, deeply soulful eyes not as "almondine". {{**sigh**}} Oh. Ahem. Excuse me.

We are certain you too will see such features in TPM (especially when you get your video copy this April!) when you see the Decoy Queen onscreen next to Padmé. Trust us; we've stared holes in our monitors over this.

Also, a quote from TPM Casting Director Robin Gurland -- originally posted on theForce.net -- definitely weighs in here:

    quote:
One of the hardest roles to cast was that of Sabé, the handmaiden that fills in for the Queen when she is in hiding. Orignially we were going to use a stand-in, but that was before we found a girl by the name of Kiera [sic] Knightley. She was only fourteen at the time of principle photography, two years younger than Natalie Portman but nevertheless the resemblance is striking. I wouldn't be surprised if she fools quite a few of the fans.

Ms. Gurland is acceptable authority as far as we're concerned! BTW, it is another 99.9% certainty here that Ms. Knightley's name is spelt "Keira", NOT "Kiera", as all her previous credits as well as press have spelt it that way.

What about the "Black Feather Headdress outfit? I've seen a pic of Natalie Portman -- definitely Natalie Portman, considering the facial features as you mention -- wearing it!

You've seen the Promotional Shot wherein she indeed dons that costume. BUT -- she did not wear that costume in the actual movie; only Keira Knightley did. It wouldn't make sense for Natalie to have worn it then; plot-wise, the Queen is exposed to danger when that outfit is worn (e.g., being routed out of the Palace), and Padmé is present.

  • Who's the Handmaiden who says in that relatively exotic accent "I'm sorry Anakin; Padmé is not here right now", etc., in the Queen's quarters on Coruscant scene?.

That's Rabé, portrayed by Karol Cristina da Silva.

  • Where else may I find info on the Handmaidens, especially any Official material?

A network of fansites on the Web is growing stronger and stronger -- which you will see the forthcoming Related Sites post.

As for Official material, much of the publications to date either ignore or merely account for in passing, the Royal Five. The Episode I Visual Dictionary does, however, give a nice spread on them (pages 26-27), but unfortunately mislabels them in the TPM still it publishes.

See the RHS-corrected version, courtesy of marcel_proust, in Giantano's post above.

The Episode I Insider's Guide is worthless as to info on the Handmaidens, who are given a measly 1 img (and not a very good one at that!) and mass listing. Lots of opportunity there, and LucasArts blew it.

  • I sense a greater purpose here..."There is something else behind all this, your highness!"

Right you are! We of the RHS feel and think that the Handmaidens are unjustly overlooked in the Official SW establishment, as shown for example by the Official site, which apparently gives more creedence to Jabba's dancers from ROTJ-SE, inactive and passive Jedi Council beings, and every single Podracer CGI alien over these human characterizations of loyalty, steadfastness, and bravery. As it stands now, the Official Site barely lists them on the Episode-I cast page, and glaringly makes zero mention anywhere of Keira Knightley / Sabé, who objectively played quite an important role in the story and movie!

So, yes; the RHS is perhaps grounded in a natural sense of Justice as we see fit.

At any rate, we bid you Welcome!

    **Piett**

OK, so Piett DIDN'T post it. (After I leave it for him, he goes and posts the same one as I do. Sheesh!!! )

And a hearty "Good day!" to Heranault and Giantano, whom I have not yet greeted in this thread.

Piett, did I see a mention of puns? I have recently recalled that the aforementioned puns were what brought me out of my "lurker" status to become a true RHS member. Perhaps I shall have to post a relisting of all my oh-so-bad-for-you collection.

And WRT to the title of "Chief Convenor," do I sense a wrangling for power ahead between our own Piett and Rebster? May I suggest an ID contest if such a thing is to occur? <G> (Just kidding--I wouldn't want to encourage strife in our ranks. The HM identification might be fun, however, and open to all. Rather than making it as complex as the one at the website, we could just post pics and have at it again--just as in the "old days.")

Ok. I started the first handmaiden thread to celebrate Rabe when I first thought she was Sache. But I was absolutely ecstatic when Rebel Operative launched the Vote For Favorite Handmaiden Poll thread. Here was a chance to bring the HM's to light and define their presense with enthusiasm. Portman was the only female getting coverage, but only for what I thought was an *adequate* beauty, nothing show-stopping. (Rabe's beauty was show-stopping, for comparison.) What is the point of promoting HM's? Basically, because the time has come for female equality in science fiction, if only to classify Star Wars thus for a mere instant. Sci-Fi is no more and no less than the future in fast forward. It's not a dream, but a premonition, and it involves everyone. And it's about empowerment. There's nothing like a powerful female. Here's some threads where the convergence has been examined, both inside and outside of Star Wars:

    Palpatine's Alien and Female Discrimination
    Male or Female?
    Women and Star Wars

Thanks for the miss, Giantino. And nice cloak, Arsinoe.

...btw, I still think the TPM:VD captions were correct for yane and sache in that tiny oval picture...

Nice to see you all here on this fabulous thread.

Yané of Naboo, nice of you to return to us. I'm sure you'll have something constructive to say yet.

Qui-Gon's Padawan: thanks for all the RHS links. You've saved me from doing it.

There is no power grab between Lieutenant Piett and me, GentleBant. Needless to say, I'm still the Founder and Piett is still the Chief Convenor, since he did such a good job collecting vast amounts of information on handmaidens.

Besides, we should have fun here, and not get all wound up in competition.

And I agree that the Star Wars: Episode One Visual Dictionary does such a poor job on describing handmaidens. Pity. That just leaves more room for speculation.

Piett, can you post the link for the RHS fan fic thread please?

And I will make that edit soon.

Giantano and Hernault, good to hear from you guys again. It's been a while. And I'll help you support Rabé, man. She's a great handmaiden. Her and Sabé.

Arsinoe, Saché of Naboo's thread has already been archived by Qui-Gon's Padawan's RHS Website. So just in case there is another cursed JC maintenence, we can always access it out of her website. I've never seen a RHS thread archived by the JC. Another pity.

Now if only the others could return to us...

The Star Wars: Royal Handmaiden Society continues....with hopes that it won't collapse.

Glad you've made it, Yoshi, Arsinoe (thanks for the extra cloak, BTW--so what happens there next? ) and jeditictac! (And RO, I was just playing around a bit. I was kidding!!!! )

Hail to Piett for his ambitious post! As "official" pharmacist of the RHS, I bequeath to thee a strong dose of extra-strength Tylenol to ease any typing injuries you might have sustained in putting together that post!

Yoshi, thanks for the post totals! Wow! 87 by me? I sure do ramble, don't I?
And, do these count the so-far invisible posts at the end of the RHS v 5.0? (Up through, I believe, Rebel Operative's heart-wrenching, soulful 1000th post?) Just wondering!

And now for a piece of business: ALL RHS MEMBERS, PLEASE GO TO THE RHS WEBSITE AND SIGN THE GUESTBOOK!!! Thanks!

Hmmmm, let's see, another posting of my "backwards" HM pic:

Greetings. There's a lot of dedicated people here, I'll give you that. I've seen TPM seven times, and I still can't spot Sofia Coppola among the Handmaidens. Where is she hiding?
BTW, anyone have pics of the Handmaidens in slavegirl outfits?

Welcome, flagg! Sofia Coppola plays Sache, a handmaiden who stays behind when everyone goes to Coruscant. As a result, you can only see her for a sec in the throne room, a minute when they are outisde being rescued by the Jedi, the funeral of Qui-Gon (behind Ric Olie) and the celebration. Not once is she truly recognizable, sadly, mostly because of "background-itis," where their faces are blurry because they are in the background.

As for my member update, that's only through page 24. I'm waiting for page 25 to be nice or for it to be archived before I add those.

Thank goodness, a new page - the old one was driving me crazy, either it wouldn't come up at all or it took *forever* to load.

Well here we all are, hi everybody! Here's something that's been bothering me lately; A Queen's attendants are called 'handmaidens' right? So what are a King's called? Suggestions anybody?

    Hello everyone!! Hello to flagg
    *waves*!

Thanks for the compliment on the cloak Hernalt. And I agree with you, there is nothing like a powerful female! [rant] Too bad there aren't more depictions of powerful, confident, strong, and emotionally together women coming out of Hollywood.
*Wishes Hollywood would just get the point!!* [/rant]

Rebel Operative, it's great to hear that the thread is archived at the RHS .. but I feel that we should petition the Admins to get it archived here as well. As part of the history of the JC and all.
I'm wondering if Saché of Naboo has to be the person to pester them to archive the thread.

GentleBant, you're welcome for the cloak! I have know idea what will happen next over there! I tried to set myself up to get kidnapped in the old thread but no one took the bait. *sigh* E-mail me if you want to do some brainstorming over the RP. And btw what is an eCircle? I have never heard of one before .. you now have me curious!

    Hello everyone,

    A new Thread. Yiipppeeeee.

And all the new members. Yeah!!!!

And for my Eirtaé friends (oh I love this part so much that I posted it in Fan fic too.)

A tribute to the Royal Handmaiden:
    Eirtaé -Friday Wilson

    and

    from

    and

    and

    and

    and

    Yeah!!!

    RHS Royal Crest

    Red One out

This tribute just needed to be posted again. Red One lifts his glass and tilts it to Eirtaé/Friday Wilson:

    quote:
    To Eirtaé

    Entrapment at Caveat
    By Red One

Captain Panaka stepped out of his speeder. It had been a long trip. Far too long for his taste. He was standing in a remote river valley village called Caveat. The rugged mountains were covered with trees and the river meandered through the valley off in the distance. The wind shear through the mountain passes made travel by air extremely difficult and quite a bit risky. Captain Panaka did not take unnecessary risks and there were no time constraints to counter the risk of traveling here by air. The speeder route, although safe enough, had seemed more strenuous than what he had remembered from his earlier trips around the area, however.

His datapad chirped at him and he jumped. Yes, he was nervous. It had been three years since working with the operative that he was about to meet. He looked down at the screen. Eirtaé. The name called to him, called up distant memories of secret missions and subterfuge at court in the name of Royal Protocol performed by a fourteen year old delicate girl who had been trained for over ten years by the Royal Intelligence Matrix, RIM for short, for royal court operations. Her profile had not changed much. It was still practically blank. He was unsure of his gut feeling to be here. Analytically speaking, Eirtaé did not match up at all with the template he was using for the Queen's duly appointed Handmaidens. Her complexion was fair and her hair was golden yellow. Her high cheekbones and poise spoke of a past dignity that could not be dismissed. It was there. She was regal. The queen would notice and most likely not approve, people would notice, and Captain Panaka's gut told him, potential assassins would notice. She would provide an unstable and unaccountable factor to critical situations. That is what he needed to round out his selections.

":Panaka" a voice said behind him. He jumped again. "I should kill you where you stand."

"Now now, Eirtaé, what kind of greeting would that be for your old, uh...Boss." Panaka replied uneasily.

"An appropriate one." She replied with ice in her voice. "But I said that I should kill you, not that I will. What on Naboo brings you up to Caveat?"

Captain Panaka breathed a visible sigh of relief. "I have a need for your special talents. The newly elected Queen of Naboo needs Royal Handmaidens to complete her ima.." Captain Panaka exhaled, never completing the sentence as Eirtae's foot connected with his mid torso and ribs, knocking him off his feet and on the Giam speeder. He made a move for his hold out blaster but it was to late. Eirtaé had followed her roundhouse kick to his chest with a draw and activation of her vibroblade and plunged the point through Panaka's hand and holster into the speeder's smooth metallic skin pinning them together. Panaka screamed.

Eirtaé stood up from her attack crouch to her full height. Panaka was panting as he looked up at her. The late afternoon sun was behind her silhouette blinding him. "Choose your next words carefully, Panaka, you stunted gungan slime; I do not like being called upon to attend to a naïve young girl's desire to find a suitor. Handmaiden indeed" she hissed.

"Damn you,… You know that I would not be here unless I felt you and your special talents were needed he heaved, Now take this damn vibroblade out of my hand!" He gasped as she reached down stealthily and pulled the blade out with the precision that she had put it in with. He stood, panting, and was surprised to see the blade no where in sight. He ripped a strip of cloth from his field coat and wrapped his hand. He noted that the wound was strategically placed so as to miss the bones and essential muscles and tendons of his hand. A small treatment of bacta would eradicate any scar. He cursed as it continued to throb, however.

"By all means, continue" Eirtaé sighed, still standing rock still with no movement coming from her at all.

Captain Panaka was rubbing his wrist as he replied "I am the Captain of the Royal Security Forces now. I have the capability to erase the blemish on your RIM career. You could start from scratch. If you help me now, that is. Otherwise, you can continue your bleak existence here, far away from the royal court; an exile in your own world and the opportunity to redeem yourself will be gone. I am giving you a chance to restore honor to you and your family."

"I am listening" Eirtaé replied. And with that, Panaka knew that he had her.

"The newly elected Queen is young but not naïve. She is strong, wise, and courageous. However, RIM believes that she will be tested. The thought of a brave and brilliant ruler of Naboo does not sit well with some neighboring systems. RIM also thinks there may be assassination attempts. I need you to spot any potential approaches as well as any holes or deficiencies in the Queens security arrangements and protocol. Your training and background in Royal Protocol makes you the perfect choice to alter situations to our benefit. I do not need you to be her direct bodyguard; there is another who will be sufficient for that role, but I want you to be an independent troubleshooter always on the look out. Sort of a last invisible line of defense" Captain Panaka said with a twinge of a grin.

Eirtaé wanted very much to have the honor restored to her family. She had known for as long as she could remember, that honor was above all else. Without honor, there was nothing. She had hoped that the election of Amidala would restore honor to Naboo. Panaka seemed to think it would. She was simple and the decision was simple. Her upbringing in the regional Royal Court and her background training as a RIM operative did make her the perfect candidate for the job. She was as versed as any could be on Royal Protocol and would be able to use that experience to change potential dangerous situations into survivable ones. She too had felt the rising winds of rebellion on her last off planet missions, the ones not even Panaka knew about, and had deduced that change was in the air for the Republic. The Queen would need to be strong and she would need strong supporters. Eirtaé was strong, but could she trust Panaka, after what he pulled… "Okay" was all she said

Lt. Piett, Senior Sabéologist, checking in, glad to be back on terra firma! I was getting vertigo from being on the 25th floor of the previous RHS skyscraper, grand though it was.

Good to see so many familiar fac... erm, UserNames! Especially Yané of Naboo -- back from Winter break? But no more especially than anyone else here. You know. Anyway. Welcome flagg. Crescent; jeditictac; Moriah; -- good to see you all!

Whither Saché of Naboo and Queen Sabé? JediGaladriel? Has Darth Happy finally been sedated into a coma? Go-Mer's got his hands full right now, I know, psychoanalyzing Bashers . . .

    Feh. The RHS is Sanctuary!!

GB -- thank you for the Tylenol. (Swallows two, with water) Ahhh. It's not the posting; it's the editing that kills me.

BTW...I think your img-caption above should read, "Cristina and Keira, standing unjustly in the shadows of her Majesty." (OOOooh! Watch it now!)

Did everyone get their Christmas Presents?
I threw the tree out; it was dry and shedding needles -- real fire hazard.

Red One -- -- I knew you were back in town when tons of images called "Eirtaé" started loading on in. And of course, we needed to see the HM Insignia here!

(NOTE: The following paragraph is prefaced with toward Arsinoe!)

WELL I just finished watching Keira (swoon!) as "Rose Fleming" in Oliver Twist and oh mercy is our Decoy really coming into her own as an actress!! I actually saw traces of Sabé in the way she carried herself -- she's developing her own style! This is a great thing to witness. In fact, I saw "echoes" of all her previous roles in the way she acted. Consistency yields integrity.

There's this great little subtle thing she does in TPM: on the Marie Celeste, just after she says Artoo "deserves our gratitude", she does a sort of fetching (so sez I, of course) "slow blink" before she redirects her attention to Panaka and says, "Continue, Captain." She does the same gesture while addressing little Oliver in OT! You can practically see the Scar of Remembrance on her lip.

Her lips. Oh, Great Otoh Gunga. Don't get me started . . . that studly older dude she mashes mouth with -- it's a wonder he was still in one piece afterward! -- had better count his blessings in this life. Blessings, I say. <jealousy> Hrrrrrumph. </jealousy>

And, like not only Sabé but "Young Judith" and "Young Celia" too, she doesn't put up with any poodou from anybody as "Rose Fleming". What were you saying, Hernault...?

    quote:
There's nothing like a powerful female.

Hear; hear! (Raises HM-insignia-inlaid glass of something)

    Anywé . . . class + subtlety + elegance =

(Brought to you by towards QuiGon'sPadawan...)

Monitor, monitor, on the table --
Who's the Bravest, the Most Able?

jeditictac - well spotted. Flagg was the villain in several King books, including Eyes of the Dragon and The Stand. He's second only to Vader, IMO.
BTW, who would like to see more SW spin-off movies made? The Handmaidens would get their own movie, of course Also, the bounty hunters and the Sith would be cool.

Lt.Piett, that FAQ is perfect. I loved it!

I just checked the old thread--the topic list says that it has 1001 replies, but the last one I can see is still Lt.Piett's (the one with the award medallion). Apparently, a whole weekend wasn't enough to get those last posts "unstuck". Oh, well. Now we have a brand-spanking-new thread to enjoy.
