5334. Still averaging about 30/day.Yeah, Jay, I heard about that cow. There's a hole in its side, so you can actually reach into its stomach! (Yecch!) It's used for studying bovine digestion. IP: Logged |

Remember that nearly unbearable feeling of suspense you got during Aliens (Alien 2) when they knew that all the horrible, spitting, frothing aliens were just outside the door, and they were all showing up on the funny little gadgets as a big creeping green blob? IP: Logged |

Yeah, they used to bring it out for Picnic Day, but some animal rights people protested, and it is no more. The cow is still used for classes, I'm sure, but not everyone can come up and reach inside of it. IP: Logged |

jasman,Spoken like a true California Valley Boy! I was born in Marin, raised in Sacramento and live in San Francisco. BTW, I once was looking at a job in the Clovis area. I used to work in optometry (I was gonna be a frame rep) But, I have found my home at USF, so, no more Clovis for me And I lurked for about two weeks before joining. Since joining (4.10) I've posted over 260 times and have had some very enlightening conversations. Especially in Misc. IP: Logged |

I'd just like to make a comment on what jasman said a while back. Son of a Hutt, you make it sound like only ex-lurkers could be "intellegent" newbies. This is father from the truth. I agree wholeheartedly with what jasman said about quote: Even uninformed people can act in an intelligent manner and post intelligent questions.
I am one such person. As soon as I found the council I registered. And don't tell me that I was just a more informed newbie then the rest, in fact I: skimmed over the rules, didn't read the FAQ, ignored the misc forums, and didn't really look around to figure the place out: just jumped in and posted. I just used my brain to figure out smilies and italics, etc. And this kind of thinking is what all these newbies should have not 'I don't get it in the first two seconds I wanted to know. Let me put up a thread'. Now don't take this as me bashing, which I am definatly not. I'm just saying that it'd be a good idea for new people to "survay the scene" before hyperventilating from panic. Well the ratio of people signing up per day to new names created by David are about the same. So about 20 new people a day, and 20 names created by David.IP: Logged |

Is there any way to delete the names of people who haven't posted for a certain amount of time? I'll bet that there are some people out there that registered, may have posted, then left, never to come back. If we got rid of them, it might help a little. Although it doesn't do much for the hundreds of newbies that are showing up every week. IP: Logged |

Sure, there's a way to do it, but we'd have to do it manually and it would be very time-consuming. We would have to pull up a list of all the members, place checks in the "delete" boxes next to the names, click enter, and then wait for an hour for all that information to be processed. (We can pull up 50 names at a time, so, we'd have to click "next 50" 118 times. It would take a couple of hours just to check the names)IP: Logged |

Well, it sounds rather tedious, but with all the admins working together, it shouldn't take that long. But, just think, if you clean them out now, and every month or so, clean 'em out again, it won't be so difficult. Here's a thought. Make PB do it. He's always bragging about his T3 and about how fast it is. He could do it in no time.

Yes, there are literally thousands of members on the list who have registered over the past 13 months, with a total of zero posts. Very strange. At one point earlier this year I undertook the effort of deleting a few profiles with no posts, but the job was just too big.IP: Logged |

I know this is off-topic, but I thought it was awesome to hear my alma-marter mentioned a while back in this thread. Does that mean an Admin is a fellow alumni? UC Davis, a very Star Wars friendly school. Somebody ought to start a thread inviting UC Davis folks to post.... maybe I should... nah... some other time. But, uh, staying on topic, yeah, how many people are registered? IP: Logged |
